Naming, tagline, key messaging

COVID-19 changed everything.

And raised everyone’s awareness of different therapeutic approaches.

One essential resource is drug repurposing, which can be a fast first line of defence. Existing insights and verified trials provide a clear, safe path to cost effective strategies that can be shared and manufactured worldwide.

Finding answers for new challenges. From existing data and drugs. When we commit and cooperate. A goal for a promising category worth enshrining in the tagline:

Repurposing medicines. Repurposing community.

That’s NewFound, a growing international partnership started by the European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (EATRIS), The US National Institute of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) from Brazil, and the Open Source Pharma Foundation (OSPF), a global non-profit with centers in Bangalore, Paris, and New York City.

Official names and opaque acronyms hide the truth: a brilliant, passionate team from four continents eager to take responsibility, build what’s needed, and help people. Joining meetings to discuss research findings was an absolute pleasure for us! Listening to language we only half understand.

Here’s how we wrote up What We Do…

REPURPOSED MEDICINES
WE START FROM MATCH

Established medicines with proven track records should be the first thing we reach for on the shelf. Because they’re already on the shelf, ready to be distributed widely and prescribed safely. When we repurpose what we already have, our best efforts prove more effective, acting quickly to ameliorate and mitigate risks while the scientific community begins to search for a solution.

AGGREGATED INSIGHTS
WE EXPLORE THE KNOWN UNIVERSE

For NewFound to find the right medicine in our moment of need, we need to prepare, share, and mobilize the enormous amounts of medical data and research findings produced each year by the world’s non-profit institutions and for-profit companies. We need to support data sharing to reveal valuable insights in trials conducted decades ago. Coordinating a navigable database of this size represents a core goal, a hard task, and a big prize.

COORDINATED COMMUNITIES
WE PARTNER WITH RE:PURPOSE

Pandemic derives from a Greek word meaning ‘of all the people’. The promise of repurposed medicines can only be realised through a global network of trusted partners acting together with real purpose. That’s how we set up channels of communication that are ever ready, develop effective tools and resources, train researchers to look in the right places, and counter the next fast-moving threat with an even faster response. We welcome any research institution, governmental organisation, or pharmaceutical company to join this mission to make our therapeutic responses faster, smarter, and safer.

“After the meeting, our Director put it perfectly: ‘That was an explosion of beautiful ideas!’

Letterhead was able to capture the essence of our organisation in a clear, simple, catchy and elegant way... something many of our stakeholders didn't think was possible. The result went way beyond our expectations. Thank you to the wonderful team at Letterhead.”
